All this week people have been working on creating the hulk in adobe illustrator. Our job was to download a file and with some shapes and make those shapes into the hulk and to color it so that it looks like the example he gave us. I finished mine in about three days, but some other people have taken a week or two. Basically we use the shape builder tool to mesh two shapes together to look like one. We make an arm then duplicate it to make another, then we make a leg and duplicate that two. We also got to draw in our own face so every Hulk is a little bit different from the others. After the Hulk project we had to make our own burger in Illustrator. We start out with the buns then we color them with the mesh tool to make it look very yellow for some reason. Then we put in the actual burger and we add cheese, lettuce, and another ingredient of our own. My "secret ingredient was tomatoes which were pretty easy to make with the ellipse tool. With the lettuce and cheese though we had to use the pen tool which was easy enough but acted really weird sometimes. These projects are important because it heightens out understanding of Illustrator and vector graphics as a whole and gives us good practice.

Tuesday is class our assignment was to create piece of pizza. We had to create a single slice with pepperoni, green peppers, olives, and then make up our own ingredient. We started by making a triangle and then elongating it to create the shape of a pizza. Then we made a circle and chose the color of pepperoni slice from a color palette. Then we duplicated it and placed them on the pizza. To cut off the bits of pepperoni that weren't on the slice we selected everything and then used the shape builder tool to delete the sections that didn't fit on the pizza. After that we created our olives by making two circles, one slightly smaller than the other. We colored the larger one black and colored the smaller one white and put them on top of each other. Then use the shape builder tool to remove the white circle from the black circle and you created your olives you can place all around the pizza. After that we made the green peppers which were very simple to make. All you had to do was make a rectangle and color it green and then duplicate them and put it on your pizza and boom you made it. After that, I made my own ingredient which was sausage. I did the same thing that I did for the pepperoni but I colored it grayish and then duplicated it like the rest if the ingredients. Finally, I made my crust by making a rectangle that was a little lighter than the original slice and then used the shape builder tool to erase the part that was coming off the pizza and then my pizza was done. I look forward to making more things in Adobe Illustrator as time goes on.
League of Legends is the number one M.O.B.A. in the world for very good reason, League has been around for almost 9 years now and the player base is still climbing. It is the most popular esports and the 2016 world championships had 43 million unique viewers and the peak concurrent viewer count reached 14.7 million with the winning team (SKT T1) taking home $6.1 million. When you actually get to playing the game then it becomes a different story. In low levels, people really don't take it seriously and if you're trying to climb elo then you run it to many toxic players and people that don't want to try. But once you get out of "elo hell" then you can actually find people who learn the game and can play any of the 134+ champions in the game with more coming every now and again. In the game there are 5 roles that you can play, each having their own strengths and weaknesses which makes it hard to solo carry a team to winning, so that makes teamwork in this game the number one priority. In order to get good at the game you need a lot more than just individual skill and more sharing with the team so that everyone can be strong and you can overpower the enemy team. Overall, League of Legends is a great game to play with friends and have fun with but can also be taken very seriously and can be fun to play competitively at high levels as well. For the last few weeks we have spent everyday doing stuff in Photoshop and we are now transitioning to Adobe Illustrator. There's a ton of new stuff that we have to go over even though it looks very similar to Photoshop, but it's actually very different. The tools are really weird and it's missing all the really simple and easy tools that Photoshop had and replaces them with really complex looking tools like the Perspective Grid tool. In class we haven't gone over much of the tools but we learned what the pen tool does and what the selection tools do. The pen tool is so weird that it seems like it's going to take years to learn how to use it correctly. Right now it just seems like I could use the paintbrush tool more effectively than the pen tool. Hopefully we get to start learning how to make more complex things like how I made my retro TV on Photoshop. A long time ago during the start of the year I made a picture of Darius from the game League of Legends but I didn't know how to color it because the paint bucket tool is so weird, so later in the year I hope I can learn how to not suck at Illustrator and finish it up.
